Just a simple fact...

Before you can get results, you have to get people to open the survey. Whether it's in an email to your list or a link on your website or social media post...

If no one opens it to participate, it's worthless.

Keep it brief.

Make it easy for a person to access.

Don't forget the subject line...

You want to interest your reader and also call them to action.

For email:

Do not send on high traffic email hours when your message is more likely to get lost or avoided.

Avoid Monday morning when inboxes will be stuffed with overflow from the weekend.

Avoid evenings when most people have "shut down" for the day.

Best time? Tuesday morning at 9 am.

For social media:

Don't just post one time on your timeline and hope someone sees it.

Use FB groups targeted to your market.

Post on your FB business page.

People are busy. Don't expect them to take your survey the minute you ask.

Keep it open for at least a week and send or post a reminder 48 hours before the survey is scheduled to end.

Not everyone is going to be interested in helping just because you asked.

Provide incentives and make it clear in the copy and subject line that there is an opportunity to be rewarded. Gift cards appeal to everyone and are a great way to convince people to get involved.

Are incentives always necessary? No, but it will greatly increase your response rate. The idea of compensation or reward can be highly motivating!

Once the survey results are in, it's time to get to work.

Organize the information. Decide what information is most wanted by your target market. Research to find the answers to their problems if you don't already have it.

Decide on the format for your product: report, ebook, training course, video, etc

Create your product and prepare to market it!

Surveys can offer a fascinating glimpse into what makes your audience tick. They can show you what questions they have, what their problems are, what solutions they are looking for. Use this information to your advantage to build infoproducts that your target market will buy!
